The Euregio Karelia Neighbourhood programme was divided into four priorities. The first three priorities funded project activities and the fourth, Technical Assistance, covered e.g. the costs generated by the programme’s administration and implementation. Each priority wass divided into two measures, in which the contents of the activities were specified more in detail. Projects related to the horizontal themes (environment, equality and information society) were funded through all priorities.

Priority 1 Business Activity

The priority of Business Activity aimed at developing cross-border cooperation between enterprises as well as at promoting development of new forms of cross-border cooperation.

Priority 2 Education and Regional Cooperation

The priority aimed at utilisation of the common cultural heritage and nature in cross-border cooperation, at supporting the information society development to promote democracy and at development of well-functioning civil organisation cooperation cross the border.

Priority 3 Transport and communication

The priority had as its general aim to make border-crossing more flexible.

Priority 4 Technical Assistance

The Priority aimed at supporting and promoting implementation, administration and monitoring of the programme. Technical Assistance aimed at making the Neighbourhood programme better known through efficient distribution of information.
